CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — White Mountain Creamery in Chestnut Hill is handing out its last scoops Sunday.

The family-owned business announced they will be ceasing operations after nearly 40 years.

The shop has been a staple spot for the Boston College community since opening in 1983, and some students said they were shocked and saddened by the news.

“[I had] good memories of student nights here,” one student told WBZ NewsRadio. “My first week [with] my new friends, that was one of the first spots we went. I’ve also had one of my first dates there.”

Co-owners and brothers, George and Peter Coufos, thanked the loyal customers and community members who brought them many fond memories over the years.
