Milkshake or Frappe? Solving New England’s Most Delicious Debate

When the temperatures start to rise in New England, and you’re craving an ice-cold, creamy concoction to go – there comes a choice that’s as perplexing as it is delicious: milkshake vs. frappe. Many ice cream customers we spoke to weren’t sure what the difference was, so we set out to solve this regional riddle.

New City Microcreamery makes milkshakes in Cambridge, and its co-owner, Michael Kasseris, says their frozen drink consists of just ice cream and milk mixed in a blender.

Our conclusion: while the exact ingredients may be open to interpretation, ice cream in any form is a unifying force and a timeless treat.
